Mark MillarOne of the most acclaimed and successful creators currently working in comics, Mark Millar has written two of the best-selling comic book titles of recent years in The Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men. A writer who is known for the range of his contributions to the field with everything from the romance of Trouble to intensity of The Authority, Millar also weaves a huge range of elements into his stories - from politics to relationships, religion to science, and everything in between - blending them into seemless, unrelenting action and drama. Millar got his professional start in comics in the late 80s and early 90s in the pages of venerable British comic anthology 2000 AD, and American independent comic The Savior. Millar subsequently made his mark in the early to mid 90s at DC Comics with runs on titles such as Swamp Thing and The Flash, both alone and in collaboration with Grant Morrison. But it was as successor to Warren Ellis on DC/Wildstorm's The Authority that Millar earned a reputation as one of the top creators in comics. Following Ellis' successful creation and run on the title with a brilliant and unique take on superheroes in a real world hobbled with conflict and politics. Millar continued this brand of success as one of the primary architects of Marvel's Ultimate line with his work on The Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men presenting a compelling and hard-edged look at Marvel's popular stable of heroes. In more recent times, Millar has continued his wildly popular run on the Ultimate line, including his collaboration with Brian Michael Bendis on Ultimate Fantastic Four. He has also written a range of other projects for a variety of publishers, including Trouble for Marvel/Epic, Youngblood for Arcade, and his groundbreaking Millarworld group of titles which include Wanted from Top Cow, Chosen from Dark Horse, and The Unfunnies from Avatar Press. |
