Are You Disenchanted?

sispurrierSimon Spurrier has given us some wonderful characters. ?From his Crossed story arcs which tread the line of sanity to his weekly installments of Crossed: Wish You Were Here, his tales are filled with fresh characters and disturbingly unique horrors. ?But while he is known for his disconcerting work in Garth Ennis’s grueling survival horror series, there is another new story unfolding that combines crime, sex, violence, and of all things, fairy tale fantasy.

DisenchantedDebut_coverDisenchanted002pg02Disenchanted is the new weekly free webcomic by Simon Spurrier. ?The fledgling story follows the lives of the wee people in a crime riddled, grime encrusted city called Vermintown. ?All the things that were shiny and magical are kind of seedy and sad now. ?Different fairy races clash and interact in a world that takes the worst elements of human civilization and sees them applied to magical folk. ?Goblins, sprites, pixies…just other terms for junkies, prostitutes, and thieves in Vermintown.

Fans of Fables will really enjoy this new series. ?It is free to read and you can catch up on the first dozen chapters by visiting www.disenchantedcomic.com.

New in February Previews – Uber Year 2 Begins

Uber-12-regAvatar Press is proud to present the second year of Kieron Gillen’s radical reinvention of the super solider comic book, Uber, with Uber #12. ?Illustrating this pivotal new arc is Ferals artist Gabriel Andrade, whose visceral work bringing Dale Chesnutt and the violent werewolf culture to life will now be turning toward the destruction wrought by the Ubers. ?Andrade’s work is perfectly diabolical and he is a natural fit to illustrate the true horrors of enhanced world warfare.

Uber #12 begins a new arc that takes a deeper look at the changing face of war and the players left standing as countries clamor to create their own tank-men to combat Hitler’s heavy hitter Battleships. ?Uber has been called one Uber-12-wrap-diamondof the best comics being published today and has received the highest reader rating from sites like Comic Related’s Horror Comic Round Up and Terror Tweets.

Ask your local retailer to order the first chapter of this new story arc and find out why Gillen’s Uber is conquering the comics landscape.

You see, back before Dan was so unharmable he left a few loose ends. Now those loose ends are growing up and their mother’s been murdered, which not only means that Dan has to solve his most personal case yet, he’s now legally responsible for four human beings who are anything but unharmable…. Dan the Unharmable by noir legend, David Lapham and featuring art by Rafael Ortiz.
