Marat Mychaels
Mychaels broke into comics around 1991 as an assistant to Rob Liefeld, and became Image Comics' first "rookie" artist in 1992 with his pencils on Brigade. Showcased alongside the likes of J. Scott Campbell and Greg Capullo as an "Artist to Watch" by Wizard magazine, Marat worked on a number of titles for Extreme Studios and other Liefeld properties, such as Supreme.
After taking a break from comics to work in advertising, Mychaels returned to launch Demonslayer in 1999. Since coming to Avatar in 2001, Demonslayer has been featured in several projects including Demonslayer: Vengeance and Demonslayer: Prophecy among others. Demonslayer has been serialized in the pages of Threshold as well.
Upcoming Marat Mychaels work from Avatar Press includes the Demonslayer: Lords of Night saga. |

Warren Ellis update: Warren has issued an update about some of his 2002 projects, among them several things to be published by Avatar. Here's a summary of some of the recently-revealed info on the Avatar Press projects:
- Scars - a six part crime comic with art by Jacen Burrows. Details on some of the Scars promotional efforts should be available shortly.
- Magic Bullets - a 3 issue political/sf/action story, with art by Marat Mychaels. Marat's been winning acclaim with his stellar work on Alan Moore's Glory, and his Magic Bullets work will amaze you as well.
- Hyperwar - previously known as the "untitled Avatar project", a three issue creator-owned alternate-world story. Lots of juicy details to be revealed about this project.
And more Warren: There are a few other Warren Ellis items on the schedule for this year as well:
- Strange Killings - featuring combat magician William Gravel, plotmastered by Ellis with art by Mike Wolfer.
- Night Radio - an anthology edited by Ellis with stories by Matt Fraction, Antony Johnston, Micaela Petersen, and Ellis.
Further announcements on many of these and maybe a surprise or two will be forthcoming.
