Robert LugibihlHere's a quick bio written by Robert himself a few months back: Okay folks...a little background info on yours truly. Stop me if you've heard this. First of all, since it's a bit unusual and is constantly getting mangled, a little info about my last name, Lugibihl. It is of Swiss/German origin and is pronounced LOO-GUH-BILL. It was originally spelled Lugenbuhl before my grandparents came over from Switzerland, and the name means "mountain view". I was born and raised in Southern California where I continue to reside with my lovely wife Susan, 6 cats and a Rotweiller named Billy. I started reading Doc Savage and Tarzan novels at 8 years old, then discovered comic books such as The Incredible Hulk, Deathlok, Werewolf by Night, Ghost Rider, and the original Wein/Wrightson Swamp Thing. I've been addicted to the medium ever since. As a kid I also fell in love with all of the old Universal monster movies (particularly The Wolf Man and The Creature From The Black Lagoon), the Planet of the Apes movies and, of course, Godzilla. In 1974 I was enthralled by a new TV show called "The Night Stalker" and soon began writing my own short stories featuring myself as a reporter or private detective on the hunt for a variety of monsters. Thus began my writing career. In high school I created and wrote a number of comic books which a couple of artist friends then illustrated. We made b&w photocopies of the books and sold them to our classmates for $2.50 a pop. As a young teen in 1980 I began working at a comic book specialty shop (one of the few in existence at the time) called The Land of Oohs and Ahs in Fountain Valley, CA. I was promoted to store manager the next year and bought the store from the fanatically religious former owner in 1987. I owned and operated the shop for 8 years...becoming ultra-conservative Orange County's largest retailer of adult and mature comics. I was, in fact, hassled by the local police for allegedly selling a copy of Faust to the police chief's 13-year old son (an utterly false accusation) and was threatened with being shut down if I didn't stop selling adult comics to adults. It required the aid of both the CBLDF and the ACLU to get the cops off my back, but we won. This story was covered by The Comics Journal and my shop was featured as a "Cool Comic Shop" in TCJ #164. In 1995 I sold the shop to Chuck Rozanski of Mile High Comics in order to further pursue my budding writing career. I worked for Mushroom Comics in '96 and '97, scripting and editing Araknis, InnerCircle, FutureTech, and Swarm. Since then I've written The Witchfinder 1-3, the unpublished More Than Mortal #7, and several issues of Marat Mychaels' Demonslayer. Which brings us up to date. Anyone still awake out there? Anyone? Anyone? ~Robert At Avatar Press, Robert is credited with script assists on Coven: Spellcaster and Coven: Dark Sister. He is also the writer of Coven: Tooth and Nail. He's written several Avengelyne series including Avengelyne: Dragon Realm, Avengelyne: Dark Depths, and Avengelyne/Shi, plus the backup story in Alan Moore's Glory #0, as well as numerous Pandora, Lookers, and other stories in Avatar's anthology title Threshold. Upcoming, Robert is writing the 10th Muse / Demonslayer crossover saga. |
