Avatar Press is a comic book publisher which has carved a niche for itself as a company that pushes the boundaries between mainstream and independent with titles such as Alan Moore's The Courtyard and Magic Words, Warren Ellis' Strange Killings and Scars, Garth Ennis and John McCrea's irreverent private eye cult classic Dicks, Joe R. Lansdale and Tim Truman's Dead Folks, David Quinn and Tim Vigil's 777: The Wrath, company owned characters such as Pandora and The Ravening, licensed hits such as Frank Miller's Robocop and Stargate SG1, and long-running anthology title Threshold, among numerous other titles -- including comics for mature readers, and other audiences. A company that has established itself as one of the cornerstones of the American indy comic book scene over the past six years, Avatar has published over 350 comic books since 1997.

Avatar Press October 2003 solicited releases

Graphics and info on our October 2003 solicited releases is live and once again it's a great month from Avatar and a legion of the best creators in comics. Here's a rundown:

  • Joe Lansdale's The Drive-In #1 - Lansdale (Dead Folks, Jonah Hex) returns to the Avatar lineup with Chris Golden (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and newcomer Andres Guinaldo to tell the kind of twisted tale of terror that Lansdale does best.
  • Alan Moore's Yuggoth Cultures #2 - We continue this career spanning collection of Moore rarities with collaborators Bryan Talbot, Jacen Burrows, Antony Johnston, Val Semieks, and Mike Wolfer. Out of print, long-lost gems written for comics by Moore, and other little-seen stories appearing in comics form for the first time in this landmark mini-series.
  • Frank Miller's Robocop #4 - Frank Miller, Steven Grant, Juan Jose Ryp, and Nimbus Studios continue to serve the public trust.
  • Hellina vs Pandora Preview - Up and coming writer Doug Miers teams with talented Rafa Lopez to preview this battle for Hell and Earth.
  • the newest editions of Hellina, Jungle Fantasy, and more

See the October section for complete graphics and descriptions of all this and more.
